Invitation Information

Lasting Legacy Let's talk invitations.... Begin creating your guest list as soon as possible. Ask both sets of parents for a list of people they would like to invite. Don't forget to make your own list with your fiance'. After the guest list have been finalized, make sure that all names are spelled correctly and that addresses are current. Do you want children to attend? If so, add their names to your guest list so that they are included in the count for the caterer. All children over the age of 16 should receive their own invitation. Decide on the type of invitations that you would like to purchase. There are 3 types of invitations: traditional/formal (white, soft cream, or ivory), contemporary (personal reflection of the couple), and informal (handwritten or preprinted). The above invitation is an example of a contemporary style. Order your invitations at least 4 months before the wedding. Allow an additional month for engraved invitations. Mail your invitat...

FOOD!! Photo Credit: Special Times Catering Let's face it, we all love fantastic food! Let's discuss the importance of a caterer. You may be asking yourself, "should I hire a caterer?" The answer is a resounding YES!! Did you know that the caterer will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving the food? Having a professional handle those details are much better than having your mom or aunts spending all of their time in the kitchen on your wedding day. They should be helping you get dressed, snapping pictures, providing words of wisdom, and holding your hand as you prepare to walk down the aisle...NOT in the dining hall warming up the meatballs and cleaning the oven. The caterer will also be responsible for beverages and for cleaning up after the event....unless you want your Bridesmaids cleaning up spills and mopping in their $300 dresses. A competent caterer will prepare much of the food in his or her own kitchen and should provide adequate staff o...

Wedding Day Tips

Wedding Day Tips -->Have checklists for EVERYTHING!!! -->If a caterer is not hired, always bring extra silverware, plates, and cups. -->The cake table must have: the cake(s), knife & cake server, gloves (for those who cut & serve cake), an actual knife/server (in case the 'wedding' ones are not doing the job fast enough), small plates, and forks. It is also a great idea to ask your baker for a small box for the top tier. -->The guest book should be placed on a bistro table, to prevent guest from bending over to sign it. It is also acceptable to tell guests that they can return later to sign the guest book to avoid standing in a long line and being missing the processional. -->If your family has volunteered to serve your guests in the buffet line, space the food out (to avoid crowding and accidents) and be sure to have 1 person for every dish. -->It is always a good idea to place the drink(s) and cups on a separate tab...

Sensational Sweets by Shea Allow me to introduce you to Shea Wilson. She is the "cake boss" of Sensational Sweets by Shea ! Shea has always loved designing and decorating cakes. It started out as a hobby and developed into a wonderful business venture. Is there any common style to most of the cakes you have done? I do a huge variety of cakes, but mostly I specialize in fondant covered cakes. What makes you stand out among other cake designers? To my knowledge there aren't many "fondant" decorators in this area. My business has definitely increased because of this! I really appreciate all of the referrals that I get.   How do you come up with some of your cake designs? I listen to my client as they explain their vision...then I put my spin on their vision (with their permission, of course), and then I execute! I will whip up anything the client requests, just look at some of my work! I would love to see more photos of your work! You...
