To Have & To Hold....

I will be yours in times of plenty and in times of want, in times of sickness and in times of health, in times of joy and in times of sorrow, in times of failure and in times of triumph. So a couple of weeks ago I coordinated a vow renewal ceremony for a couple that has been married for 25 years. As I watched them recite non traditional vows from the heart, I realized that couples should review and renew their vows after a while. Listening to them express their love for one another 25 years later you could tell that they were speaking from the heart and from past experience. They had been through good times, bad times, hard times, fun times, deaths, births, financial ups and financial downs. This was not like the first time when you get married. You repeat the vows: "I, [name], take you [name], to be my [husband/wife], to have and to hold from this day forward; for better or for worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness and in health; to love and to cheris
