10 Ways to Save $$$$

10 Best Ways to Cut Costs {according to Mindy Weiss..with my 2 cents added} 1. Trim the guest list: the fewer guests--the fewer tables--the fewer centerpieces, the fewer expenses 2. Choose a gorgeous setting: this cuts down on the cost of decorations 3. Use a reception site that is already equipped with tables, chairs, flatware, and staff: save on delivery fees 4. Start the wedding earlier in the day: an early wedding means less food...unless you and your future spouse are foodies! 5. Limit the alcoholic offerings to wine, beer, and a signature cocktail ...or skip the alcohol altogether! 6. Move the wedding from Saturday to Sunday: or possibly to a weekday. Venues are less expensive during the week. 7. Eliminate the champagne toast: guests can raise their punch, water, or tea in your honor 8. Hire a DJ instead of a band.  9. Opt for standard sized invitations: irregular shaped invitations cost more to ship. 10. Skip favors: unless they ...

10 Ways to Save Money at your Reception

Image
We all want a super fabulous wedding ceremony and reception, right? But we have to remember that we need to continue to live the day after the wedding! We have bills to pay and lifestyles to maintain. We want a fabulous wedding but we don't want to break the bank to have it. Here are some ways you can save money on food and drinks for your big day. 1) Cut champagne out of your budget; let guests toast with whatever they’re already drinking. 2) Offer a duet plate (a combo of two items, such as filet mignon and lobster tail) instead of offering a choice of entrees; which is more expensive. 3) Choose a three-course meal instead of a five-course meal. 4)  An afternoon tea or dessert reception can be a great personal touch and a money-saver. 5) Fondant on cakes is expensive because it requires extra labor. Choose butter cream or cream cheese frosting. 6) Instead of a cake, serve mini cupcakes. They save money because they don’t require much product or d...

I said YES, now what do I do??

You're engaged! Now What???? First, tell your family. You do not want them to find out on social media or from your friends. If you have your ring, go ahead and insure it. Your ring was a BIG investment! Treat it as such!! Insurance will replace your ring if lost or stolen.   Photos!!! No, I'm not talking about selfies!! LOL! Have a quick engagement photo session. Take some and give to family and friends or order just a few for you, him, and the parents.  Think about your guest list. Determining the number of guests will help with venue selection and budget. The more guest, the bigger the venue. The more guest, the bigger the budget.  Choose your wedding date range. I say 'range' just in case the exact date that you want may not be available at the exact venue that you want.  Set your budget. Decide who will pay for what. Start saving. Select your venue options. Do you want your ceremony and reception at the same place? Do you want a d...

SheQueita wants to know...

Image
Hello Newly Engaged!!! I asked some Brides-to-Be that if they had any wedding related questions to send them to me. Below are the questions SheQueita had. Hopefully, they will answer some questions that have been on your mind. If not, give me a call! SheQueita: "We both have huge families!! Who do we invite and who do we leave out? We don't want to hurt anyone's feelings." KTW: Great question SheQueita!!! First, start with both of your master lists...everyone that you think you should invite, want to invite, and will definitely invite. Second, assign each name to either category A or B. "A" are must-invites (family, BFFs, etc). "B" is everyone who is not an "A". Third, take a close look at category "B" guests. When was the last time you spoke to them? How close are you? If they did not attend your wedding would it upset your day? Asking yourself these questions will help you trim your guest list. verysmartbro...

Your Grand Exit

So you made your grand entrance in your stunning, jaw-dropping wedding gown...how are you going to make your exit? Usually limousines are used to whisk you and your husband away to your honeymoon destination. Check out this vintage car! It has style, elegance, and a hint of fun! You will definitely turn heads riding away in this classic. www.arrowvintagecars.co.uk Can't afford a limo or a vintage car? But I'm a Cupcake kind of girl!

Image
Not keen on cake? No problem! It's your party and you can have cupcakes if you want to!! Cupcakes are an inexpensive alternative to cake. They are small and portable. Guests can 'grab and go'. Besides, you want them on the dance floor anyway! You will have the option of having multiple flavors, sizes, and decorations (same as you would with a cake) if you choose cupcakes. Another way to save money is to order extras that can be used as favors to your guests. via: Jelly Cake via: sweetlittlegals.com via: sofieswedding.com via: theweddinghouse.info Need more cost effective ideas? Ready to Pop Shower!

Image
Look Who's Ready to Pop! Cori wanted to give her brother and sister-in-law a family centered baby shower in her home. The color scheme was green, blue, and yellow. Ready to Pop was the theme. Popcorn, Pop Rocks, Blow Pops, and Ring Pops was placed throughout the house to incorporate the theme.  "I would like to thank Myiesha for all her hard work on such a small budget! My brother and sister-in-law's baby shower received great reviews! Everyone loved the theme too! Thank you so much." -C. Cole (hostess)

The Reason I Plan

Image
This is why I do what I do.... I provide information to Brides & Grooms-to-be because I know firsthand how exhausting and overwhelming it is to research information while planning a wedding. I became a wedding planner because I absolutely adore weddings and I enjoy the "behind the scenes" planning that comes with it. I know that it may sound crazy, but I enjoy doing the research, preparing time lines, drafting agreements, visiting vendors, and maintaining order at events! Not to mention that I have a knack for organization!! I like to have a plan and a list for everything!! I even keep a list of my lists! I like to know (1) how things will get done, (2) who will do them, (3) when they will get done, and (4) what are the resources required for them to be done. <--That is how you plan a wedding. I work with and for the "Working Woman". I provide budget assistance and maintenance, and I provide assurance and peace of mind. I plan weddings for the ...

Budget? What Budget??

The Budget...we hate it, but we have to set one. I am a firm believer in staying within your wedding budget as closely as possible...after all, you do have to live after the wedding, right? So, how do you determine your budget? Budgeting is by far the first thing that you determine after saying 'I Do'.  Figure out how much money is available now--how much money have you saved for your wedding? How much money was gifted for your wedding? Check your wedding fund! No money saved? No wedding fund? Then think about this: Do you and your fiance' need to start saving? {Tip: open up a wedding savings account} How much money can you afford to save? Will either (or both) of your parents contribute? How much are they willing to contribute? Who else will contribute to your wedding? Do you need a $50,000 wedding or will a $10,000 wedding suffice? Determine the amount that you would like to stay at (or below) and stick with it! Determine your 'must haves' and cut...
